Newcomers
If you’re checking out St. Luke’s or St. Joseph’s for the first time, you can expect the same thing that many now look forward to each and every week. A place to continually grow in the life that we’ve been created to live in relationship with Jesus. That’s really what we’re all about. We could tell you about the worship, the atmosphere, etc., etc… but we would rather just invite you to join us sometime to take it all in for yourself. This website should help you with all questions you may have as to who we are, what we believe, and what we do. If you need anything else answered just send an email with your questions to stlukes@stlnj.com
Oldtimers
We always need members of our congregation to greet and visit our newcomers. The Newcomer’s Welcoming Committee actively offers St. Luke’s and St. Joseph’s Church family membership to visitors. The committee members visit with newcomers ofter the Sunday services to give a temporary name tag, obtain personal information for follow-up, and share glimpses of the many opportunities for spiritual growth in our church community. The second function of this committee is to follow-up with newcomers to assist them in selecting a group or groups for participation. The committee is dedicated to fully involving our new brothers and sisters in our church family. We have a dinner every few months at St. Joseph’s to welcome all of our newcomers. This is a time for you to meet members of the vestry and other members of the church in a more relaxed atmosphere.
Flower Ministry
What happens to the flowers after the four services on Sunday? Traditionally, the flower arrangement is taken apart and the flowers are taken to shut-ins, the infirmed and those who just need a brightening in their day. St. Luke’s and St. Joseph’s needs help in taking these beautiful floral gifts to others to enjoy.
The beauty of God’s creation is a wonder to behold. The beauty of a flower reflects the glory of God. Presently, the flowers are professionally arranged by a local florist. It is the hope of the Altar Guild, that a flower ministry can be formed to create and present our own floral pieces to praise God. We can all learn together and make plans as we’re forming a Flower Ministry. If you love flowers and wish to find out more about this ministry, please contact the Altar Guild Directress, T9E Cooper at St. Luke’s or Sara Lewis at St. Joseph’s.
